How do you utilize cannabis in your work?
So I'm definitely a daily smoker—I've been smoking for a long time. But it's been really an anxiety relief reliever for me. And through the anxiety relief, that helps me really expand my creativity—it helps me just like trust my intuition. When I'm dyeing, when I'm crocheting something, I'm always willing to change whatever needs to be changed as I go, and that's purely due to my choice of cannabis within that day. So if I, you know, want to dye earlier in the day, I might smoke a sativa joint in the morning and I just open up and feel more excited about colors. But yeah, when I am crocheting or knitting, I usually like to do that at night. So I might smoke a indica joint or a hybrid with my cousin and we'll watch a movie and I'm able to tap into a more mindless state of work. And I love that. It's part of why I love cannabis for so many different reasons. But with my work, it always just helps me feel more free.
If you could give yourself advice a year ago, what would you say?
I would say just breathe. Breathe through it. The only way out is through.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve experienced high?
So I once took a quarter of a 1000 milligram brownie unknowingly. I mean, I should have known because my friend who gave it to me only eats edibles that are stupid milligrams. So I went to visit some of my old coworkers at a restaurant I worked at in Temecula, California. And my friend upon arrival said, “Yo, like, come eat this edible, like share it with me.” And of course I was always gonna say yes, so I immediately took this quarter of a brownie, we cheersed it and I just you know, downed it and then immediately was like “wait, how much is this?” and he proceeded to tell me that it was 250 milligrams when before that I've only had maybe 100. So I ended up spending the next nine hours at a restaurant I used to work at stupid high and then crossfaded sitting in front of the GM and the owner for several hours. I passed out in the bathroom, fell asleep on one of the tables, and then was able to sober up by 3am when I set out to go back home.
What project are you working on now?
I just started designing my first collections so that's going to be a six month process, but I'm very excited to start my first work of art. In the meantime, I do monthly yarn drops on my website unlikelyfox.shop. I do fun, themed drops. I've done a Rick and Morty themed drop, and a Steven Universe drop and this month I'm going to do a Princess and the Frog themed drop. So yeah, I post all of my yarn shit on my instagram at @unlikely.fox.
